Opening hours of the Louvre Museum in Paris
The museum opens on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 6 pm. On Fridays, the museum is open at night. You can admire the works on Fridays from 9am to 9.45pm. It is closed to the public on Tuesdays. You can book your ticket online or buy it on site under the pyramid when you arrive.
The last admission is one hour before closing time. The evacuation of the rooms starts 30 minutes before closing time. Please note that the Louvre closes at 5pm (with evacuation at 4:30pm) on public holidays. The museum is closed on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December.
Prices to visit the Louvre in Paris
The price of a ticket to visit the Louvre in Paris is 17 euros for an online ticket. Tickets purchased on site are 15 euros, but availability is not guaranteed. Free access is reserved under several conditions. This is the case for minors, people with disabilities and their carers, etc.
The group rate is set at 70 euros. To obtain a group rate, between 7 and 25 people must be visiting at the same time. You can enter the Louvre alone or in a group via the main entrance (under the pyramid), the Richelieu passage, the Carroussel or the Lion’s Gate.
The audioguide is a fun way to discover the history of the works and costs 5 euros. You can reserve it when you buy your tickets. The price of guided tours, storytelling tours and workshops ranges from 9 to 12 euros. Entrance tickets are not included in this price. With the guided tour, the price of the entrance ticket is 26 euros.
Exhibitions and collections at the Louvre

Denon Wing and Salle des Etats
It is in the Salle des Etats that you can admire the most famous painting in the world: the Mona Lisa. The Denon wing is reserved for Italian painting. You will also find Italian, Spanish and Northern European sculptures from different centuries. The Raft of the Medusa is a French work that is also on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris in the Denon department of paintings.
Tour of the Sully Wing
The history of the medieval Louvre awaits you on the mezzanine floor of the Sully wing. The current Louvre is housed in a former royal palace in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. Thematic and chronological tours guide you through history and art.
The Sully wing is full of ancient treasures from Egypt, the Orient and Greece. It also houses the Roman, Etruscan and Greek antiquities collections. It is in this wing, in room 345, that you will discover the marble work representing the Venus de Milo. Move on to room 703 to admire another statue: The Victory of Samothrace.
The Richelieu Wing: French paintings, art objects and sculptures
The Richelieu wing is the most recent wing of the Louvre. During the visit, you will discover French sculptures. Room 229 of the Louvre is devoted to oriental antiquities. In this quieter wing you will find a collection of medieval and Renaissance art. On your way back, admire the works on display under the glass roofs.
